Long time no post? Well, I think you all heard of my current status. Gotta focus on getting into college first before diving into blogging again. I really miss blogging though, I’ve been gone for weeks or maybe more than a month now. I try to keep myself updated with awesome bookish news like Throne of Glass getting optioned for a TV series, who knew right? And also, here in the Philippines, Colleen Hoover, Tarryn Fisher and Christine Brae came to visit. I almost cried when I saw Colleen, I’m not kidding. (She also has awesome hair, I wish I touched it, but that would be creepy)
Colleen Hoover is the author of Slammed (My super old review), The Point of Retreat (My super old review), This Girl, Hopeless (My super old review), Losing Hope (Super old review), Finding Cinderella (Oldish review), Ugly Love, Maybe Someday (My somehow fresh review), Never Never part I, Never Never part II, Confess (My still fresh review) November 9 (releasing on 11/09/2015 but 11/10/15 in the Philippines)
Tarryn Fisher is the author of Mud Vein (My review), Marrow, Never Never Part I, Never Never Part II, The Opportunist, Dirty Red, Thief.
Christine Brae is the author of The Light in the Wound, His wounded light.
- When she writes the twists in her stories, she doesn’t dwell on in much, she just jots everything down and if it happens, it happens. She also added that November 9 has the biggest twist among all her books so I’m super psyched!
- When she writes she locks herself in a room. She can’t stop writing when the scene is dark and sad or else it’ll affect her writing so she puts in a little humor.
- Names are the most important part of the story, she can’t write without a name. She tries to pick a male name that no one uses much so that the male character can stand out.
- Music has a big role on her books, she was listening to Unsteady by X ambassadors for November 9.
- Colleen lives in her head, she even shared a story about how her son has trouble conversing with her because of it.
- She used to think that NA meant Not Applicable. LOL
- She doesn’t think she can co-write with any other author besides Colleen. She thinks Colleen is an excellent writer and that Colleen shouldn’t be too humble because she thinks we all know that Colleen is amazing!
- Her writing process is that she has to experience something, like a very strong emotion and that emotion turns into a book.
- Her character’s names should have meaning, even last names have to have meaning.
- Her schedule is very hectic so she does her writing in planes, hotels and in a car. She wrote her published books that way, I wish I could do that.
- She admits that self-publishing is a lonely process, you have to find your own editors and readers. You have to do everything on your own. It’s hard, but can be worth it.
- Scarring fact: She reads the end of the book first. NOOOO!
Did you guys know Colleen has a super cool tattoo? I never got to ask her what was written on it since I was a little starstruck that she was standing right in front of me.
I had a super short conversation with Tarryn, I had her sign some of my bookmarks, I printed them myself, so I didn’t design them but whoever did , you are amazing. If you’ve noticed Tarryn also has some wicked tattoos, I was like cool ink and she was like do you have some? Of course, I said no, since I was too young and she told me she wasn’t allowed to have them too. LOL
Thank you so much National Bookstore for inviting me to meet these authors. Colleen Hoover is my favorite new adult author, she made me fall in love with contemporary books during the time I hated everything contemporary. She made me who I am today and without her I’d be nothing, so thank you so much for this opportunity.
